Sargo originates from HAMAG – a company with deep roots in the development, production, and service of energy infrastructure in Denmark, spanning from fossil fuels to new, sustainable energy carriers.
Since its founding in 1940, HAMAG has been driven by design, innovation, and operational reliability.
During the war, when traditional fuel was scarce, the company developed gas generators for vehicles – an early demonstration of our problem-solving approach.
1994 – Charging Station and Payment Solution for Copenhagen Lighting
From the first charging stations to the future of E-Mobility
At Sargo, we believe that innovation starts with experience and knowledge.
Our E-Mobility journey dates back to 1994, when we were among the first players in Denmark to develop a charging station – along with a payment solution for the Danmønt card – for Copenhagen Lighting. The solution was created for the iconic Ellert, a pioneering electric vehicle project from the 1980s.
Already then, we saw the potential of electric mobility and helped take the first steps towards a more sustainable transport sector.
2015 – AC Charging Station
Free charging with OK
This marked one of the first concrete attempts in Denmark to combine alternative revenue models with flexible payment solutions – an important step towards the more intelligent and scalable charging infrastructures we see today.
2020 – SARGO UNU, AC Charging Station
The first true Sargo charging station
The Unu charging station with 2 × 22 kW was our first model – and it remains part of our portfolio today. It combines a simple, aesthetic design with modern technology, including an MID-certified meter that meets the requirements of today’s charging infrastructure.
Unu is built with the same attention to detail and understanding of materials that we have developed over decades. The stainless steel is precisely engineered – and designed to remain both functional and visually strong, even 25 years from now.
2022 - EVP MASTER
A unified payment solution for charging parks
As charging parks were established in cities and along motorways, new EU legislation was introduced, requiring public charging stations to support payment with standard debit and credit cards.
Our response to this challenge is EVP Master – a unified payment solution supporting up to 12 charging outlets and compatible across charging stations from different manufacturers. It makes it easy to ensure compatibility, transparency, and ease of use – regardless of supplier.
2024 – SARGO DOMO, AC Charger
The first 100% Danish-produced AC charger
When experience and knowledge are brought together, new opportunities emerge.
This is how the first idea behind Sargo Domo was formed – an AC charger that was unveiled in late October 2024 at eCarExpo in Bella Center.
Throughout the entire development process, we stayed true to our heritage, creating a solution that combines the clean lines of Nordic design with advanced electronics – developed and produced in Denmark.
